Economic Insights: 2025

It's a new Business year, for many a new budget, and for all, a fresh start. What does it mean, will the economy continue to grow? Will politics cloud the future or fuel more growth? SDSI convened a panel of notables to ask those very questions. Led by the EDC’s Eduardo Valesquez, SDSI Chairman John Sarkisian, Taylor Guitar’s Barbara Wight, Beacon Capital Founder John McLean, and Cushman & Wakefield’s Andy Ewald, the prevailing word was “optimistic.” Yes, the challenges of tariffs are a short term challenge, but the opportunity of friendly near-shoring or domestic production promises a possible revitalization at the production level. The thought of doing business locally is definitely positive. Consumer confidence remains strong, as does employment. AI and infrastructure represent another opportunity to spur additional growth. Its true there is no crystal ball, and nothing is known for sure, but optimism is a great starting point.
